Thanks alot Hatchman Engine is all sorted

I’m sh*t with words so I put lots of photos instead

bent the inner sill out so I could rust proof when all welding is done and for the b pillar to slot into

[ img ]

Added a lip all around to give it added strength and to lay a hot flat bead.

This is my bending bench very basic

This is an edge Lipper and hole punch thing

This my spray booth

[ img ]

Always try to round your edges so they don’t blow a hole when welding

Having a lap joint I could run the Mig really hot which gave me nice flat welds.

All lined up ready to weld.

Fitting the gearbox by myself on the ground was fun but got there in the end. moving house soon so no updates for a while.

Haha its mobile too! Got couple minutes to spend on the datto on Saturday.

Couldn’t work out if the tint was black and went purple or just purple tint, anyway had to go. $15 buck steamer from Kmart and the tint peeled straight off.

Had to replace the yoke for a manual one

Got sick at looking at multi coloured car

ThaThanks BLUBRD!

Had 4 different keys for one car kind of annoying so I made some adjustments to the door locks

[ img ]
[ img ]
[ img ]
[ img ]

Swapped couple around and filed couple so they all line up

[ img ]
[ img ]

Brought the engine in unknown condition so I gave it a small tune up. adjusted valve lash, checked timing, adjusted points, replaced the starter motor solenoid was playing up. Asked couple questions on downunder Datsun about the su carbs but no real information. bored at work searching for couple hours found all the info I needed, found out they are from a 180b sss usa import. next step stripped SU carbs and adjusted back to standard spec.

Some type of air mixture thing removed

short video of it running below, need to buy carburettor synchronizer and a radiator to tune them. but very happy it runs!

just had a read through your build. Love your work with the mig! How did you learn? Take a short course or watch a shitload of youtube videos or something like that ?

Thanks man learning everyday, best advice I can give is buy a decent gas mig setup, and don't be scared to just give it a go. I watched couple utube videos on mig welding sheet metal but nothing I would recommend. every time I’m about to do any welding I practice on an off cut till I’m happy then go for gold.
