I think your right alistair after rolling the rear wheel arches today the front wont be able to go any lower without skinnier tyres or negative camber. On a positive note I can now go over bumps again. I also knocked the front guard s a bit so I can reverse and steer without grinding away the lower front part of the guard.

Anyway I can at least go for the dumped arse look now until I sort the front out.

Update

I picked up an SX dash from green200b with a tacho. Which i wired in yesterday and i like very much. Besides the tacho my favourite bit is now my car has a "genuine" 66 thousand ks lol. Lost a hundred thousand ks somewhere.

I fixed my headlights at the same time so i am using the 200b as a daily again without fear of nightfall. Grabbed a few parts from a wrecker to fix the lights. Also got a spare altenator, new side indicators and chrome surrounds and my favorite part by far is my new Crack free dash pad.

I forgot how great this car is as a daily really enoying driving it. Even took it up all the way up eastlink to get the parts from green200b.

Hey Callan. Good to hear its back as your daily, as all good datos should be. Wish I could say the same. Wgn still not going. :( Would like to know though was the dash change over plug and play or was there some rewiring to do? Think of changing over the Wgn.

Thanks
Dean

It was super easy much to my suprise. I used all the original loom. The old clocks wires all match the tacho ones. The only thing you will need to do is run a wire from the back of the tacho to the negative side of your coil. You run the wire from the spade typed thing in between the positive and negative wires on the very back of your tacho.

Then just grab a clock that goes where the D is next to the radio. Believe me you miss your clock I have to wire my new clock in still.

It was good seeing you and the 200B, it's been a while since a 200B other than mine has come to my place. Finish the interior swap and you'll be done in there. Then you can get to lowering it :D

Good to hear you're chipping away at it Callan.

What size tyres on what width wheels do you have at the front? I'm sure you could go a smaller tyre on the same wheel and dial in some negative camber with good results.

You can also find a particular spot in the arch where the tyre rubs and file it away with the back of a flat-curved metal file. I did that on my Porsche because I was sh*t-scared of cracking the paint rolling the arches.

Get choppin those springs!

Thanks for the comments guys.

Alistair thanks for having me always good to chat and grab a few parts. I need to finish the black still but I also need new carpet and the base of the drivers seat. Lowering coming I promise.

Heath firstly cool porsche. I have got all the rubbing spots out now. Only issue is the very top of the front guards. Alistair and I decided I need to run narrower tyres on the front. Really I shouldn't have gone 7 inches on the fronts but I couldnt resist the fatness. I definetly will be asking you some questions soon as I delve into a full resto pon a new project

No news other than one flapper have up again today probably fix it tommorow.

I was also going to say that if you want thin whitewalls and just have the flappers, you could try painting the inside part of the flapper black?

Just because machining whitewalls into standard tyres isn't legal doesn't mean you shouldn't do it. The main deterrant should be that (from what I've seen) it doesn't seem to last particularly well. I used to run proper whitewall tyres (as in white rubber behind the black rubber) as a grandma guise on my old Torana. The problem was that they were really poor tyres and they were bloody expensive as well - I got them for next to nothing second hand, but I think they were the sort that Antique Tyres had available when I looked.

175s or 185s should fit nicely on the 7"s, what are you running at the moment?

I did rather extensive white wall reasearch before i bought the flappers. You cant buy tyres with white walls wide enough for my rims. Plus they are a rip off for nothing special. I am still considering having the non legal white walls done beacause i cant see my 200b becoming a targeted car. i should have bought the flappers that look like thin white walls but hadnt seen them till after i fitted mine.

In reality i have only had one really troublesome tyre so hopefully it can be rectified.

Sorry Heath you asked what tyres i have. Currently i am running 215 on the front and rear. The only reason I put these tyres on is they are brand new and free they came on my ZL fairlane but i got some 12 slotters with brand new tyres for $50 (bf goodrich with white writing and the rears are are real wide rims with 265's) so when i needed wider tyres for the datto these seemed perfect. the 215s not the 265s lol.

I am considering going for narrower rims on the front again maybe only 6"s but i would need to sell my widend fronts beacause i dont think i can justify the cost again.

OK update. I fixed my flapper if the bastard comes off this time i will by a new set and keep the other three as spares. Because only that one has ever come off and it has managed to at least three times.

Since i bought the car in 2004 or 05 i really cant remember it has had a massive spot in the rear carpet where i assume a something nasty was spilt. There is also a bit on the trans tunnel. It looks very shabby back there so i cover it with a couple of mats. But my curiosity got the better of me this week and i was worried the floor pan might be damaged. The carpet threads are like tissue paper so i moved the sound deadner to reveal the most mint floor pan i have ever seen. Anyway im pulling the carpet out today because it is so shabby the passenger front is folded over and ripped and refuses to fit and the driver side is just wearing out.

Can anyone reccomend a carpet place? I only know of the place in knox which unless anyone reccomends otherwise i will use also going to put down some quality sound deadner. For some reason i am looking forward to having no carpet for a while.

Small update I have had no carpet since about my last update. And for some reason I love it. front flapper is still going but looks a bit worn out. Getting excited about probably doing a cam and extractors in the near future.

Any one recommend a cam for a L20B? I'm getting custom exhaust and extractors made by a guy who runs an exhaust shop and is a 200B enthusiast!

OK BAD NEWS. To fix the rust on my bonnet. Turns out the rust is from a Sh!thouse repair. But i can fix this all is well. Not to mention i have a mint condition bonnet in storage im saving for the future.

I got a bit excited and thought lets get into the drivers door rust. Lets just say the door wasnt at its first rodeo. The bottom of my door is essentially Bog. Where the metal behind has an indent its literaly inches thick. So i am going to do a better repair job a begin to hunt for a better replacement door. I can only hope the rest of the car is better.

I sincerly hope my rear guard rust isnt the same case. Im supposed to working my other project but the 200b comes first. i was really suprised to see all the bog as this is a genuine old lady car that i thought was looked after.
