no worries shaun, i was pretty confident that once we put it back together, all it needed was some spirited driving on the way home to clean up those blackened plugs.

I had a play around this afternoon tuning the avcr, managed to get another 100rpm out of the spool up time. Now getting 7psi by about 2300-2400....

Holding back on upping the boost until i get her on the dyno to check afrs.

Took her out and I can't really report anything noticeable at 4000. It starts pulling pretty evenly from 3000 up, and if anything it's probably 5k where it gets crazy.

Are you insane SR20Datsun?! Remove the Venetians?
The venetians are the best part of any 1600. Next time I build one, I'll build the car around the venetians!

I had an annoying front wheel scrub issue that finally got the better of me today.....so i decided to take to it with a baseball bat...all fixed!!!!! I might start a DIY class....Fender Rolling 101...Maybe you will interested Nick????

1)Start by jacking up the car, i used a scissor jack which forces you to work slowly...most advisable.
2)Then use a heat gun to warm the fender lip of the section you are starting with (just hot to touch seemed to work well). Try and do sections of about 15cm at a time. The heat gun will give your paint some elasticity and prevent cracking. Warning!!! Too much heat will discolour your paint :?
3)Insert baseball bat here -> hahaha I used a stubby holder to protect any metal on metal scratching.
4)Slowly lower that car so that the weight returns to the front wheel. Do not lower the car completely, work slowly..patience is the key. Once the the bat is wedged between the wheel and the guard, start to roll the bat across the 15cm section of heated guard. Lower the car a little more and repeat... Continue until you have reached your desired clearance.
5) I had the bat angled so that the handle was on the floor during the rolling process. Seemed to work best.

I gained a about 5mm clearance and could probably go a little more, but at the moment its not necessary.

Tones,

I don't know if I'm going to need to roll the guards :D, but if I do, I'll give you a call. But you aren't fitting venetians to the car...

Im on holidays at the moment, so i thought id undertake another small upgrade. Ive decided to go with the bludebird light/indicator/wiper controls. Full of confidence after wiring up the sr, i thought this would be a piece of cake. After two days of reading wiring diagrams, soldering and testing, im finally done. Not as easy as i thought.
I decided to change the head light wiring from an earth switching setup to regular 12v switching. The bluebird system doesnt use a relay but i figured it wouldnt hurt, so I did away with the original (black magic) relay and replaced it with a regular 12v relay. Low beams are activated by the switch and high beams are powered through the relay. Althouth I retained all of the factory wiring, just "rearranged" a few things, the lights seem to have a little more life now.
The next challenge was the wipers, i was hoping to have the intermitant switch working. All seemed to be working out until i turned the wipers on waiting for the fancy new intermitant function to work :( as it turns out my wiper motor has lost a little tab to tell them when to stop. Oh well.
The shroud takes a little massaging and fits ok, i might do a little bit more customisation to make it a bit neater.

Well done Tones. I hope all my advice lead you astray...
Or didn't lead you astray? :D
