Some tips for searching the forums:

Use the advanced search form, and select the forum, or section appropriate to your search. This will cut out all the results from other forum sections. Eg. if your search involved brakes, select the brake forum.

Try selecting "Search for all terms" this will only return posts that contain all the words in your search.

Try selecting "Display results as: Posts" to give you a page of text you can scan for relevant results, instead of having to click to view each one.

Try searching message text only.

Try filtering results by how old they are.

OR, try searching the site with Google: Type into Googles search field (without the quotes): "site:www.ozdat.com" then the things you are searching for.

If you've searched and cant find an answer, then ask.

I can't seem to get the Boolean search option to work.

For example:
+Guard +Roller just searches for roller...

This search thing is real crap (again!)

For example...

Stanza +coupe

Ignores Stanza FFS...
It says the word Stanza is used to regularly... Well FFS I don't want stanza... I want stanza coupe...

Stupid search engine.
Put it back the way it was...

Yeah its stupid that it ignores words like bluebird, stanza, datsun becasue there's just too many posts with those words in them.

Complain to the guys that wrote it http://www.phpbb.com/

If your search fails, try the google search tip:
Quote:
OR, try searching the site with Google: Type into Googles search field (without the quotes): "site:www.ozdat.com" then the things you are searching for.
eg
site:www.ozdat.com/forum/ stanza coupe

http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=en&q ... arch&meta=

Update: I found the setting to turn off the ignore common words, and turned it off.
Update #2: Turning it off, didn't seem to have any effect.
