After being at the meeting last night it is either we all join the NDCCSA and have like our own 'sub chapter' and participate in all sorts of motorsport events etc, we'll have a committe set-up to deal with what is going on etc and organise events and the like as well as every one buys a CAMS licence to do all the events or we start our own club (which will be expensive) and call it what we want and do wat we want but as i said getting CAMS certification is very expensive...

Costs:
With the NDCCSA
To Join: $50
Part CAMS Licience $55 (Allows you to do the 'slow events')
or
Full CAMS Licience:$85 (Allows you to do ALL motorsport events)
MCA Register $15

Our own club:
about $1000 bucks divided between members for CAMS certification
Part CAMS Licience $55 (Allows you to do the 'slow events')
or
Full CAMS Licience:$85 (Allows you to do ALL motorsport events)
plus other costs i spose as well...

just would like to get some feedback from all who are interested...
thanx.
-nick

(ps, jimmy or shanon, got anything to add?)

Yer another option that me and jimmy discussed on the way home from the meeting last night is to keep it as it is, and start up our own website and forum for South Austrailians and post "Up and coming events" and if people are interested in getting into compition you can join the NDCCSA. We can make stickers and jumpers etc, and orgainse cruises/social events... and keep S.A. datto lovers informed about unregistered uninsured cruises etc

I agree about the costs involved with setting up a club. A mate of mine who is in the SDCC (southern districs car club) told me about it and also suggested not to bother with setting one up but join a club like NDCCSA (nissan datsun car club of south australia) which are based in Tailem Bend. As to making a sub division of that club based in Adelaide would be a better idea and a lot cheaper and a lot less hassel.

The CAMMS licences are as follows: L2NS (level 2 non speed) - Motorkhanas and khanacross
L2S (Level 2 Speed) - Autocross (doesn't include drag racing) and there are limits as roll cages may be required.

As to starting a club or club related info, contact Adam Willis - CAMMS S.A manager, he is apraently very helpful and will tell you all that you need to know.

If we are then part of a club and then organise a cruise i think that we then need to notify cops of routes and diestinations and times and approx turn out, on the positive, if there happens to be an accident then it is covered by the insurance of the club.

So much involved and responsibilities for setting up a club so make lots of inquirys and ask lots of questions and then make a decision from there.
NDCCSA apparently have a web site as well so that may be the way to go and find out the best option for from their experience and go from there.

Hope this helps.
Cheers
Anthony

I like the idea of joining the NDCCSA as a sub-chapter. Very little extra hassle to be full CAMS affiliated.

Flubber, with what you are suggesting, how is that different to what will be happeneing as a NDCCSA sub-chapter, Aside from the annual fee? I reckon it's possible to have all that you are suggesting, even an individual club name, as a sub-chapter of the NDCCSA.

Cheers,
Derwin

The question is, how many people will be willing to fork out an annual membership fee?
Last night we were convinced that the membership costs are minimal, and if everyone is willing to to pay the membership then i think we affiliate with adccsa!

i agree with every thing that ders has said here.

Flubber on the ndccsa site they said the membership fee was like $50 so its really not expensive

EXACTLY.

..thats the question..hooow many people would want to fork out this cish..because its no point joining unless you want to do some sh*t off the streets..they do heaps of track days etc but dont really bother with the cruises, show n shines etc..because theyre all hardcore race nuts..personally im down with joining up with them, because when our car 'is done'.. it will be on the track 80% of the time..and for them people that are keen to race join up too..otherwise if your just down for cruise's,socialising and maybe the odd show n shine..we can keep it like it is here but FREE! and just have our own dedicated 'datsun/nissan club forum which is easy to setup, and i already have the connections to get stickers, shirts etc.. and as for the rego and ins...*i hate to swear*.. we're just a group of mates..
i know so many clubs that have just kept it low key,u dont have to overeact with all that bs.

Exactly. If you want to join a club and be apart in such days at lonsdale and other motorkhanas and khanacross days to put your skills to the test then go for it. All are pretty well organised and timed, skilled courses around cones to try and beat your times and get better at. It is all in good fun and to test your skills basically, to get an idea get a CAMMS program and go out to a day and see for yourself, i will try and let you all know when the next one at lonsdale is on from my mate.

As fror the club thing, make it like a non official thing but a social thing with meets, show and shines and cruzes etc. We can still have club stickers and stuff to put on our cars and have T-shirts etc to recognise us. If you start to get to technical then you only run into more problems and costs.

Dato_boy said"Flubber, with what you are suggesting, how is that different to what will be happeneing as a NDCCSA sub-chapter, Aside from the annual fee? I reckon it's possible to have all that you are suggesting, even an individual club name, as a sub-chapter of the NDCCSA."

I say stick to it as mentioned a sub chapter, with out the costs and if you want more then join NDCCSA for the sporting events.

Or hang on, are you suggesting that you want us who are interested to still join NDCCSA and then still have the sub chapter. Either doesn't bother me.

The resolution.
- Join NDCCSA
- Have a Adelade based sub division of the club
- Then give it a name
- Make stickers etc to put on our cars etc to buy at like cost price or just above to cover time and effort and materials
- Still have our cruises as we have done so far and/or regular meet ups to just hang out on weekends ect
- Organise to make a turn out as a club at show and shines and events as a club
- And anything else that happens to turn up or other ideas

So what do people think to that? I think that is the best compromise for every one in whatever they want to achieve as a club.
Let me know how every one thinks about this?

Cheers
Anthony

I agree with what Jimmy and Shannon were saying, the only thing im woried about is that if someone has a crash on a 'unauthorised' cruize then the sh*t hits the fan, but if we have CAMS certification then we are fully covered, even as part of the NDCCSA we can do show and shines, cruizes and track days, it is a bit expensive but it is a small price to pay for not loosing everything you have got. Plus im pretty sure that the club membership fee covers cruizes and the like and the CAMS licience is only for track days, motorkhanas and the like...

Well I have spoken to datto_boy and we are both of the opinion that $100 or so per year is a small price to pay for full CAMS affiliation as our own sub-chapter of NDCCSA.
