Yes dave it is possible. Narva make a H4 lense that fit 510's. I have them on my 1600. Fit perfect no mods apart from wiring.
If it is H4 you can have high and low from the one lense. The h4 globe from memory use the same earth though. So you will have to use positive switching to make them work. no biggie with that though.

Give Rob Mills a email robmills@tpg.com.au I got mine through him about ($150 for both lenses)
He also has a shop on ebay. User name is nrap. Good luck :)

oh okay awesome, yeah we sell the narva 5 3/4" H4 conversion kits at work, so these should fit i assume. they include globes and wiring, but the wiring would need mods to work i assume. do you have the narva part number for your lense's? i assume any 5 3/4" lense would fit and the 1600 ones shouldnt be any different to normal ones. so on your car you have 4 low beams and 4 high beams yeah? is that illegal? otherwise i was thinking H4 outer conversion kit and then a set of 5 3/4" spotties or driving lights in the middle.

how would the stocko L4 alternator handle all this?

Dave

Yes of course it is.

Use either mine or Chris's rewiring template as a base. The difference between mine and chris' is that I have three relays for each bank of headlights whereas Chris just used three relays overall. Chris's is more than adequate.
Anyway, Instead of having an inner relay which just turns on the high beams with the dip switch and and outter replay which switches the outters to high and low beam do this.

Have a seperate relay for inner and outter with their own change over relay. the headlight switch will turn both circuits on to low beam and when the dip switch is pulled the change over relay will activate and "both" circuits will switch to high beam.

Any other queries give me a yell.

Dave sorry dood I don't have the part number but the 5 3/4 sounds right. I have the h4 on the outer and airplane landing lights on the inner. You will need to upgrade your altenator. Use a VL or R31 altenator it will bolt on but you need to change the pulley over. I bought a new pulley from Repco for mine. The alts are 70 amp output.

Follow the wiring digrams posted. The second one is pretty much what I did. Works great. Plenty of light to. No drilling holes into my new bumper for spotlights.

You could even be full sik and put some fake HID's in the lenses

thanks for that dude, those diagrams will help alot.
after looking through some books today and getting prices (work was dead) there is a HUGE variation between hansa, narva and hella. i was thinking of just getting the narva H4 for the outer and H1 for the inner 5 3/4" conversion kits, and then using the 130/100w narva H4 globes and the 100W H1 globes, but was hoping these lenses could handle it as i dont want them discolouring from the extra heat.

or could i just get two 5 3/4" kits and run 2 sets of H4's? which would mean 4 low beams.

i just decided to go narva as they were the middleground between the hansa and hella, unless hella really is worth the extra $$ i doubt i'll worry

Dave I used the hella H4 inserts for the outer lamps and used 60/55 watt globes and did not upgrade the wiring as the wattage is the same, and the lights are perfect. Just make sure the high beam lamps have a glass back as the metal back lamps will short due to the datsuns being negative switching...

I think my PRC3 SSS has aircraft landing lights for headlights.
They are so bright...
not sure on the brand though.

I'll take some pics this weekend.

Yeah they are made by Hansa and are sealed beams. I have them on my 1600. Bright as sh*t. They are pretty cheap as well. You can by them from the guy I mentioned in my earlier post.

alrighty, so i reccon the hansa 150w sealed landing lights, along with the narva H4 outer conversion kit with the 130/100 globes should be sufficient, aswell as an rb30 alternator.
does the alternator need any wiring mods to suit or it is as simple as change the pulley and wiring over and away you go?

Depends if you have external reg or have the internal red already. See the diagram below. You can't go wrong. Also upgrade your power wire to Bat with a thicker guage wire.
