Your best trying to find a local engineer and ask him all your questions. Some are strict on somethings less on others. e.g. some will make you fit a charcoal canister some don’t care. You could think you are building via the book but if your engineer doesn’t like the look of it he won’t pass it. Might want to ask around for a datto friendly engineer in your area.

dti is this -> http://www.transport.wa.gov.au/licensin ... ehicle.asp

this should tell you mostly what you need to know and the steps needed. I.e complete a modification application form, wait for approval (in principal [hopefully]) then get things checked by an engineer, then take over pits for registration. but as others have said it may be best to talk to an engineer before completing the application. just first have an idea about how you want the car to end up, like what brakes, suspension, diff etc.

there are plenty of sr20 510's so it's not that hard but it is quite costly!

this could be helpfull also depending on how your doing the modifications... https://infrastructure.gov.au/roads/veh ... _ncop.aspx

good luck man!

Wow that's awesome so much to read hehehe
And confusing but il get there in the end
What do most guys determine as the steps you should take when getting stuff engineered, build it and get approved or do bits get approved and keep going or build the whole thing according to legal requirements and then get it inspected?

Thanks

First step is to plan it all out, then have a chat with engineer before spending any money on parts. They will be able to spot any issues with what you are planning to do and tell you what you should do.

I used a guy called Dan Pitic here in Perth. He was good to deal with.

There is a list of engineers on the application to modify a vehicle in one of those above links.

I also used Dan Pitic recently. Nice to deal with.
