G'day :)

So, for the last year I've been using a chopped up coolant bottle as a temporary lens for one of my front lights after the original one fell off.

I've since brought a 3D printer - an Ender-3, and some clear PLA; with the plan to 3D print a replacement. I know it won't be as good as the original, but I think it'll be better than the coolant bottle.

I'm guessing my best bet is to remove the other one, and photograph it from many angles in order to generate a 3D model to print; but I've never tried that before. Predictably, there isn't one on thingiverse.

Has anyone here tried this before?

Cheers, Mike.

Google sketchup could be a good start to model it up or Autodesk Fusion 360 is free and has a few tutorials on how to use it. The photographing from many angles requires complex software and skills to smooth it all out. It may be quicker to just model it up in a CAD package.
