Hi all. I have a very clean tidy 1965 410 bluebird. A couple of months ago we went to Datsuns at the bay at Glenelg. We had the only 410 sedan there,in fact if you look for Datsuns at the bay on you tube you'll see ours in the video. We had many comments on the day but the one comment that got me really thinking was "oh wow,it's a four on the floor ". I heard this a number of times so that's my question, who or where can I get info on my car like how many were made in floor shift or is it rare,I contacted earlydatsun.com and even he said that it wasn't common and my door trims are different to the ones he's seen as mine have stainless and chrome trimming on them and also a bench seat up front! I know the car has not been altered as I have full history of it. So if anyone knows anything I'd love to know more please.

My dad worked with Datsun dealerships in the 1960s and 70s
and has said Datsun were first in having floor shift in Australia compared to Ford , Holden and other manufactures .

I know of one 410/411 in Melbourne with bench seat and 4 on the floor.
Apparently its rare, i was told it was something to do with being near the end of the 410 run and these were things rolling out with the 411.

Dont know how true that is tho.

From what I've read the 3 speeds were column shift and 4 speeds were floor shift. This was the era of bench seats and column shift so floor shift weren't what people were used to, and generally reserved for sports cars.
