This announcement is for all users of this forum. The moderation team have decided that we need to ensure the image we are creating on the internet and on the streets is in the best interest for not only the users but for hot rodders in general. In saying this any illegal or frowned upon material should be kept off the forums.

We ask that no one post anything in regards to burnouts and top speeds on the street, good quiet places to go drifting or anything "hoon" related. We don't want any bad press and we certainly don't want a bad name in the eyes and ears of the law! This policy is targeted at illegal activity, so please feel free to discuss any of the above when they have been performed at events like track days.

All posts in relation to the above will be deleted and a warning will be issued via PM. Continued violation of this policy will result in an account suspension, and in the event of further violation an account ban will be put in force.

This policy is being put into place to make sure we have the best time in our little cars.

great that this is being put into practice, but i think anyone with a bit of common sense should have already known that it's unwise to post topics like that anyway, good to see that it will be controlled now

Thats a bit hypocritical since there is a 1600 doing dough-nuts in what looks like a public space on the main page.

Maybe that should be removed first.

Point well made!

I have to say that back in 1998, when this first appeared on the Ozdat front page we all loved the image! Then, we also got the weber sound that we all love to hear.

Times have changed and the explosion of Hoon Drivers, illegal street racing and its deaths have created a bad image on our streets.

If this goes, lets replace it with a short clip of another of a Datto going hard - legally. Anyone got a great rally action clip that James F could head up the front page with? A Geoff Portman "Grunter" clip would be fantastic!

Why not add a disclaimer at the top of the page instead of posting the thread everywhere? Also adding it to the Terms and Conditions of registration could be a good idea.

yay! more stupid red-tape.

personally, if you're dumb enough to street-race, then brag about it online, then you deserve to get caught.

it doesn't matter if they brag about it on here or on myspace, no-one has a leg to stand on to shut us down for someone's stupid comments.

they wouldn't dare shut down myspace, yahoo chat for anything like this, so why would they do it here...? intelligent responses please, none of this "because they can" bullsh1t.

i think the paranoid android has called shotgun here.

Ive actually never seen any evidence of hoon talk on this forum.
Aaron, can you shed some light on where it happened? (Pm me if you wish)
Fair enough about the policy and attracting unwanted police attention, but this is ozdat with roughly 3000 registered users (50 odd regular posters),most of them mature aged enthusiests, very different to nissansilvia.com which has 40,000 odd members that mostly like drive "hoon" imports.

I think many would agree that this forum has one of the most responsible groups of members on here, and any loonies that join never seem to last long.

The notice is more about giving people fair warning in advance - otherwise it is hardly fair if someone posts about a bit of hooliganish activity and then have people getting upset about it. I dont think anyone should feel as though they are being targeted etc - because that certainly isnt the case.

i found with this website's forums, you have to be dedicated and show some knowledge and entuhsiasm to be noticed by other members, to be realised you're genuine, whereas like on ns.com, any joe blog can get 100 posts in a day and no one would take any notice of it

The age grou mightn't be necessarily older but the attitude and opinions are always from experience or entusiastict attitudes
